The Writer's Guide to Making a Digital Living: Choose your own Adventure

The Writer's Guide was developed through the Australia Council's Story of the Future project to explore the craft and business of writing in the digital era. It includes case studies from Australia's rising generation of poets, novelists, screenwriters, games writers and producers who are embracing new media. The guide contains audio and video content from seminars and workshops, as well as extensive references to resources in Australia and beyond.

Sydney Sidetracks links historic video, audio and pictures to their locations online. Content on offer includes early images from Port Jackson in 1821, as well as more recent events such as the Hilton Hotel bombing. Downloading the mobile version to your phone is ideal for a walking tour of the inner-Sydney streets.

Classic/amp

Classic/amp is ABC Classic FM's home for a growing online collection of Australian classical and experimental music, drawn from the ABC's vast archive of music recordings. This website will become an increasingly valuable resource for music teachers, students and general music lovers alike as it expands to embrace a wider range of artists and genres, including rare works which have so far been difficult or near-impossible to access. The collection will also be enriched through the development of search functions and curated sub-collections as well as numerous links to biographies, scores and other documentation on websites of key partner organisations including the Australian Music Centre, the National Library of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive.

Artpost is an interactive website and short video series for TV broadcast, which showcases artists working in regional and remote parts of the country. Peter Garrett, the Federal Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts, launched Artpost at the Art at the Heart Conference in Alice Springs. The centrepiece of Artpost is a digital interactive arts map of Australia where you can watch artists at work in their studio - from Toowoomba to Lightning Ridge, from Broome to Strahan. The site provides the tools for students, teachers, art lovers and artists to create short videos about who they are and their work, for inclusion on the digital map. In five easy steps, a video can be created and uploaded directly to what will become a living art gallery of all corners of Australia. The videos will also be broadcast on ABC1 and ABC2.

The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) collects and distributes licence fees for the public performance and communication of our members' musical works. The Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) collects and distributes mechanical royalties for the reproduction of our members' musical works.

Twelve Canoes

The Twelve Canoes website which a compelling portrait of the art, culture, history and place of the Yolngu people whose homeland is the town of Ramingining and the Arafura Swamp of north-central Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The web site, honouring the people of the Arafura swamp, and is built around twelve filmed 'visual poems' describing and illustrating many aspects of Yolngu history, life and culture. The visual poems include Creation, Our Ancestors, The Macassans, First White Men, Thomson Time, The Swamp, Plants and Animals, and Seasons, to Kinship, Ceremony, Language, and a slice of contemporary life in Nowadays.

Pool is a social media project developed by ABC Radio National. It's a place to share your creative work with the Pool community and ABC producers - upload music, photos, videos, documentaries, interviews, animations and more. It's a collaborative space where audiences become makers.

Founded in 2002, STRUT is located in the King Street Arts Centre, in the centre of Perth. STRUT dance offers support to independent Western Australian dance artists so that they can create and produce their own work. The flexibility of artistic direction and breadth of membership allows STRUT to support emerging and established artists who work across a range of contemporary dance practices.

FORM is an independent cultural organisation which works to enhance Western Australia's competitiveness and creativity through creative, cultural and social capacity building projects. FORM's program areas are: Regional Development; Indigenous Development (especially Kimberley and Pilbara regions); Place Activation (urban clusters); and Industry Development (encompassing the creative industries development at Midland - Atelier).

Screen Australia is the Commonwealth Government's new screen agency replacing the Australian Film commission, Film Australia and the Film Finance Corporation. This new organisation has come to fruition out of the necessity for focus on ensuring a strong voice across Australian film, television, documentary and children's programs. Screen Australia provides support to Australian film, television, documentary and digital media makers and aims to put the industry on a new growth path.

With a wealth of previously unseen digitised material, CV provides access to collections, including the ability to research material from across the network, behind-the-scenes insights from experts such as curators and artists, and a listing of over 700 of Victoria's collecting organisations.

ABC Indigenous

ABC Indigenous is the ABC's new portal for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Indigenous portal replaces and upgrades the pre-existing Message Stick gateway. It was developed in consultation with the ABC's Indigenous Programs Unit and with members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
